Choosing the best Summer Camp for your child
It would be strange if, as a parent, the thought of your child spending a week away from home at a summer camp didn’t fill you will a little worry. That is why choosing the right camp is such an important decision.
This summer was my second at Timber Lake Camp in New York. However, the summer of 2012 saw me in a different role. In my first summer I was the camp videographer, but this year I was to be a camp counsellor. As much as I did enjoy the videographer role, being a camp counsellor allowed me to be more involved in activities, with the kids and in camp life. This led me to have the camp experience that Camp America is famous for.
With the recession still not totally over and jobs becoming more harder to obtain a larger percentage of USA college students are now thinking towards working on a Summer Camp.
Everyone is still recovering from an amazing summer at camp. The great times made, the new memories, life long friends and impactual influences we all had on the campers. Summer Camp really is a special place and one that can only truly be appreciated if you have experienced it.

Throughout our posts we have preached the benefits of working on a summer camp for the summer and we have given helpful tips and advice on recruitment agencies and getting hired. For those of you who have been successful- it’s time to pack and go! This can be a daunting prospect and some of you may be nervous about summer camp.
Children Nervous about Summer Camp ?- don’t worry
Parents if your child is nervous about going to summer camp- this is normal. The important thing is to remain the parents, be in charge and stick to your decision of sending your child to camp. This is a perfect example of one of the strengths they will gain from going to camp. It may be their first time away from home, or indeed from you- but it is time for your child to experience independence.
Protect your relationships
The World is a very fast-paced place to live these days, with so many different gadgets available to everyone that sometimes we actually lose track of the relationships we have with people. More and more kids are playing video games or are spending time on the internet, which causes them to not get the same human interactions that we got when we were children. I think that it is great that all of this technology is now available for us to use, but I do think that we can get too wrapped up in it if we are not careful. I think that one of the best ways to get back in touch with people, and also to try to slow down your life is to get back to nature. If you leave your laptop, your cell phone, and yes even your iPod at home, then you will be amazed at how many different things you can experience within a short period of time. Camping in the woods really brings people closer together.
